Q & A with the Artist

We are proud to showcase a variety of different kinds of performing arts at the fringe.

What is your show? What kind of performance is it? What is it about?

A Suite for Small Space II, is an evening of new dance works by Julian Adair and is the second in a series of new choreography performed by Ever After Productions company dancers.

Fringe festivals are a place for art at all levels of creation. Where are you at in your process?

Is this a first draft? A previously produced piece? An experimental show? Or something else?

This concert is the second in a series of new works, set to varied styles of music such as Rachmaninoff, contemporary composer Tony Ann, pieces with Yo-Yo Ma, and an original percussion piece performed by metro area musicians. The choreography is neoclassical, contemporary, balletic, and traditional modern in style. Earlier this spring, part 1 of A Suite for Small Spaces concert was performed in partnership with Shelterbelt Theater’s branching out series which was well received, with sold out performances. Part II is new works, plus the duet Reflections from the first concert.

Why did you submit your show to Omaha Fringe?

The initial inspiration came as my 60th birthday approached this spring and I wanted to stage choreography that has been yearning to come to life for some time. I am delighted to be a creative in my field for musicals, academy work and storytelling for so many projects in our community and it has been some time since I produced concert dance works from my personal collection.

What are you hoping audiences will experience when they see your performance?

What can audiences expect to take away?

Beautiful, poignant, stirring dance pieces performed by accomplished artists that create stories, moods and environments that reach them in ways that only dance can.
