Q & A with the Artist
We are proud to showcase a variety of different kinds of performing arts at the fringe.
What is your show? What kind of performance is it? What is it about?
The Coffee Tonk is a jukebox musical about a young man following his dream of becoming a singer/songwriter in Nashville. It's also about a struggling, single mother trying to make it as a waitress in a honky tonk. It features original country music, dancing, and the serendipity of being in the right place at the right time.
Fringe festivals are a place for art at all levels of creation. Where are you at in your process?
Is this a first draft? A previously produced piece? An experimental show? Or something else?
This is an abridged, 60 minute, edition of a new play, that is yet to be produced.
Why did you submit your show to Omaha Fringe?
The Omaha Fringe Festival is an opportunity to see my play.
What are you hoping audiences will experience when they see your performance?
What can audiences expect to take away?
I'd like the audience to appreciate the singer/songwriters and all others struggling to make it in a competitive career; also to realize there's a lot of good music out there that we may never get to hear. But mostly, I'd like the audience to feel hopeful in this "feel good" family play with a happy ending.
