Q & A with the Artist
We are proud to showcase a variety of different kinds of performing arts at the fringe.
What is your show? What kind of performance is it? What is it about?
In the new short play The Howler, wannabe detective Mitchell Keene arrives at the house of John Howell- his prime suspect in a series of murders 10 years ago called “the howler killings”. (The names match, so it has to be him! Right?) However, a sudden snowstorm leaves the two men trapped together overnight as paranoia takes hold!
Fringe festivals are a place for art at all levels of creation. Where are you at in your process?
Is this a first draft? A previously produced piece? An experimental show? Or something else?
The Howler received a reading at the New Ways New Works festival at UNO as a one-act. It has now been extended by over fifteen minutes, and is being staged for the first time.
Why did you submit your show to Omaha Fringe?
“I wanted to learn more about the production process, as well as the life path of a new play. This is the first play that I have written and it is so great to see an idea transform from pen to stage. Plus, I get to work with friends of mine and all of the incredible artists at Fringe!” -Ash
What are you hoping audiences will experience when they see your performance?
What can audiences expect to take away?
The Howler is a laugh-out-loud piece. It’s a comedy of misunderstanding. I hope the audience can walk away thinking “What fun! How ridiculous!”
