The way home//where horses fly
Produced by: Rachel Tobin with Vōx Dance Collective
Rating:
Synopsis:
Both physically and emotionally, the healing journey is never what we expect, often following an extremely non-linear path to transform us in unique and unforeseeable ways. How do we find the strength to carry on after the storm? Determination, community support, starting over, simply taking each day as it comes? Inspired by the gentle, honest prose of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy, Vōx Dance Collective presents a new evening length dance piece: the way home//where horses fly.
Q & A with the Artist
We are proud to showcase a variety of different kinds of performing arts at the fringe.
What is your show? What kind of performance is it? What is it about?

Fringe festivals are a place for art at all levels of creation. Where are you at in your process?
Is this a first draft? A previously produced piece? An experimental show? Or something else?
This is a completely original evening length dance performance. Choreographed by Vōx Dance Collective, the movement is an interpretation of healing and perseverance. As in all past Fringe appearances, we are creating this entire production over the summer thanks to the dedicated work and artistry of our dancers.
Why did you submit your show to Omaha Fringe?
This will be our fourth time participating in the Omaha Fringe Festival, and we are thrilled to return. The Festival provides a much needed platform for artists in Omaha to present innovative, evocative, and original performances. We love that performers of all kinds are supported and uplifted as the festival format encourages the creation of new work across the board in a variety of genres, from theater to dance and more.
What are you hoping audiences will experience when they see your performance?
What can audiences expect to take away?
We hope to capture the feeling of finding the strength to carry on after the storm, whether it be from determination, or community support, or starting over, or even just taking each day as it comes. Our intention is to create space to discuss and reflect on what connects us as humans. We want to provide audiences with evocative, authentic, and engaging choreography that will remain with them long after they've left the theatre.
